A. Primary Purpose of Job
Cares for patients under the direction of the Clinic Manager, Advanced Practitioners, Regional Medical Director, and in compliance with MedWise’s philosophy as well as standards of practice and regulations of government agencies, while creating and maintaining a positive patient experience.

B.  Position Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Care and Customer Service
    1. Provides healthcare in collaboration with medical care team.
    2. Appropriately addresses patient requests for accommodations to facilitate accessible and inclusive care.
    3. Prepares patient for and assist with examinations in a manner which promotes the delivery of high-quality patient-focused health care services.
    4. Perform required vitals, collect patient complaints, medication information, and other encounter specific EMR details.
    5. Interview patients to obtain history, including but not limited to medical, surgical, family, and social history.
    6. Administer injections and medications, conduct tests/diagnostics, perform radiologic imaging, and dress wounds / incisions.
    7. Completes ordered CLIA-waived laboratory testing according to manufacturer’s instructions and company policy and procedures.
    8. Maintains patient medical records, medical reports, and other records.
    9. Interprets Providers discharge instructions to patients.
    10. Performs other duties as requested by medical care team.
    11. Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, clinical areas, and disinfect rooms according to company policies and regulations of government agencies.
    12. Provide consistent and efficient customer service using empathy, compassion, and good judgement.
    13. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for designated areas, ensuring comfort and satisfaction for patients.
    14. Comply with all HIPAA regulations to maintain patient’s rights to privacy by not discussing privileged information and always preserving the patient’s dignity.
    15. Complies with all required trainings at the specified timings.

 

  1. Other Responsibilities and duties as assigned
    1. Pursue self-improvement through becoming familiar with new policies and procedures, participating in training, orientation, staff development programs, and compliance /certification maintenance.
    2. Perform Patient Experience Coordinator duties to ensure efficient and effective patient flow.
    3. Perform opening/closing procedures in accordance with standard procedures of MedWise.
    4. Completes Daily Assigned Worksheet tasks as assigned. 
    5. Answer phone calls and patient inquiries timely and professionally as well as conduct patient follow up phone calls and patient referral phone calls as indicated. 
    6. Maintain stock of supplies in patient rooms and report/track low supply inventory to Clinic Manager.
    7. Understand, promote, and operate by overall company vision, mission, values, goals, objectives, and strategies.
    8. Participate in the Disaster Recovery plan as required.
    9. Promote harmony, teamwork, leadership, good supervisory and employee relations through example.
    10. Works amicably with leadership team in providing appropriate feedback regarding all issues including patient care, clinical issues, facility issues, operational issues, and staff issues.
    11. Clinic assignments will be at the discretion of management and clinic employees may be assigned to different clinics on different days.
    12. Assignments of clinic hours, including evenings and weekends will be at the discretion of management.
    13. Must review MedWise electronic communications.
    14. Other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications

  1. Required education/license/certification:
  1. High school graduate / GED / vocational training equivalency.
  2. Current American Heart Association BLS certification OR must obtain within the specified timeframe per MedWise policy.
  3. Valid state/government issued identification.
  4. Medical Assistant education in progress or certification OR
    • May be substituted for 6 months with direct patient care in a clinical setting in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, or an ambulatory care setting as a Medical Assistant, certified Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic. Nurse education in progress with completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, or equivalent, of an accredited nursing school.
  1. Desired education/certification:   
    1. Current/Active and Unencumbered license/certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, American Board of Radiology, or Paramedic.
    2. Licensed Practical Nurse.
  2. Required experience:       
  1. Direct patient care in a clinical setting in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, or an ambulatory care setting as a Medical Assistant, certified Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic, OR
  2. Official transcripts of current enrollment and participating in or have completed Medical Assistant training from a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of allied Health Education Programs or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools OR
  3. Official transcripts of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing, or equivalent, of an accredited nursing school.
  1. Desired experience:
  1. 1 year with direct patient care in a clinical setting in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, or an ambulatory care setting that includes performing x-ray and radiology testing as a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic.
  1. Required skills:    
  1. People-oriented, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Proficient verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, prioritize tasks, triage patients, and take vital signs. Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate administering medication(s) ordered by providers. Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Worker must be able to hear, see and speak to supervisors, co-workers, internal customers and vendors, and to identify and deal with such via the telephone or in person in order to accomplish job responsibilities.

 

Physical Requirements

This job requires that the worker be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time to perform work duties. Worker is required to hold items such as writing utensils and utilize hand and finger dexterity. This job requires the following:

  1. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  2. Continually required to talk or hear.
  3. Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
  4. Occasionally exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.

  6. Occasionally work in high, precarious places.
  7. Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
  8. Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.

He/she must learn new process as MedWise changes. He/she must be able to think through, reason and solve problems. He/she must maintain his/her composure with internal and external customers.
