Job Title: Tax Systems Manager

Primary Purpose of Job: Assist in the maintenance and upgrade of existing tax systems and the design, development, training, and implementation of new tax technology projects. Work with Tax Teams to ensure US tax standards and accounting principles are applied to new solutions. Responsible for direct customer relations in defining needs and implementing solutions. Participate as an active team member of the Systems team.
Major Functions:
Contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of new systems and system rewrites affecting the Income, Excise, Transaction, Property Tax and Licensing Departments. – 45%

- Become SME for all Tax systems. Support development/implementation of new and revised solutions.
- Design, develop, train, and implement new low-code/no-code solutions and/or processes in coordination with Tax leadership.
- Lead initiatives that drive process improvement and provide value.
- Identify opportunities to make improvements and revise existing systems as needed and manage the process to implement these changes.
- Work with IT department and PMO to install new tax systems and create automated tax processes utilizing technology.
- Work with IT department to ensure we complete software upgrades regularly as recommended by the software manufactures.
- Review all existing tax systems periodically to ensure they are meeting the needs of the workgroups.
Provide System Administration Support and Problem Management for Tax and Licensing systems and/or projects. – 40%
- Submit and approve access requests for functional area
- Provide support to end-users by responding to requests for technical assistance.
- Oversee IGEN workflow development and support

- Lead development and source control activities related to workflows; Restore workflows as needed
- Partner with subject-matter experts to validate accuracy and consistency of data and drive efforts to ensure conformity with government compliance.
- Initiate and support upgrades with IGEN
- Troubleshoot files and workflow errors
- Ensure workflow functionality is documented to assist in knowledge transfer
- Train new IGEN users and developers on best practice

Serve as liaison between IT and Tax groups as Business System Administrator for Tax compliance and determination systems
- Work with Tax team to ensure proper adherence to US tax requirements
- Maintain working knowledge of capabilities, functionality, and associated integrations for AS/400 and JD Edwards, Sales Tax Engine system, Excise Compliance software (IGen), OneSource, and Right Angle
- Lead identification of system issues and troubleshooting
- Identify system release schedule and lead UAT testing
- Resolve day-to-day system issues working with IT PTO
Serve as liaison between IT and Licensing as Business System Administrator for Licensing and Property Tax systems.
- Work with Tax team to ensure proper adherence to US tax requirements

Business & Technical Documentation: - 5%

- Create workflow process diagrams, document project requirements, and produce other functional documentation.
- Collaborate with various departmental personnel to produce initial drafts, revising documentation per departmental and subject matter expert feedback.
- Assist in the creation of Training Manuals, Guidelines, and other educational tools contributing to change management
- Create and maintain regular reporting as required.
Research and Development – 5%

- Research tools, methods, and processes in support of the Tax data reporting environment.
- Make recommendations to Management for future directions.
- Stay current on new trends and products that provide future value to the company.
Special projects as directed by the Financial Systems Manager or Vice President Accounting / Controller, Assistant Controllers, and/or Directors. – 5%
Position in Organization
Reports to: Financial Systems Manager
Indirectly supervises: Will vary depending on scope of projects assigned to the incumbent.
Relationships
Inside the Company: Tax Personnel, Accounting Personnel, Information Technology Personnel, Operations Personnel, and Other Corporate Departments including Subsidiaries.
Outside the Company: 3rd Party software vendors (technical experts, designers, Program Managers, SW Engineers consultants), external auditors, all taxing authorities, and financial institutions.
Position Specifications
The required specifications (education, experience, and skills) are those that the employee must have to hold the position. Required education: Bachelor of Science degree with major in Accounting, Math, MIS, or Business AND Must have successfully completed Intermediate Accounting I and II.
Desired education: Bachelor of Science degree with major in Accounting/MIS.
Required experience: Five years’ experience in an accounting environment including detail accounting (both theory and application). Five years’ experience with data files in multiple systems including ERP systems. Three years’ experience and knowledge of Excise, Income, Property, or Transactions Taxes or Government Compliance.
Desired experience: Five years’ tax experience and knowledge of Excise Tax Income Tax, Government Compliance, Property Tax, Transaction Tax. One year experience with IGEN workflow development.

Starting Salary: $93,900-$117,400
