Primary Purpose of Job:

Responsible for providing financial support across all QT departments and leading analysis of potential investments in the core business. Additionally, the position will contribute to the budget and strategic planning process. Collaborates with business units to understand where data solutions can support financial planning objectives, improve process efficiency, or support data driven decision making.

Major Functions:

  • Prepare and analyze segments of the company’s financial budgets and strategic plan. (40%)
    • Assist in the presentation of annual budgets and strategic plans to upper management, board of directors and financial lenders.
    • Provide budgeting support for multiple processes such as capital and special project budgeting, depreciations budgets and ensures GAAP compliance.
    • Provide support to the business units in the formulation, compilation, and review of annual budgets and long-range plan including analysis to support assumptions.
    • Assists with the documentation of budget processes and procedures. Provide recommendations for process improvements and ideas to leverage the budgeting system.
    • Update budget processes for areas of responsibility as needed to ensure efficient and accurate budgeting.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and publishes ROI - return on investment analysis as requested by QT management. (20%)
    • Work with key management across the company to ensure new projects are properly analyzed and consistently evaluated based on QuikTrip’s financial evaluation process.
    • Create and maintain QuikTrip standardized project evaluation templates.
    • Provide training and support to the business on ROI modeling.
    • Build moderate to complex financial models to help QuikTrip management better understand its business and improve decision making and financial returns.
    • Build decision support tools to allow the business to make recurring decisions in a way that maximizes value for QuikTrip.
    • Perform ad hoc analyses on divisions and subsidiaries as requested by management including breakeven analysis, ROIC analysis and NPV analysis.
    • Perform lookbacks on both capital and special projects to evaluate return, increase accountability and improve QuikTrip’s ability to forecast future projects.
  • Provide financial support and analysis related to QT performance, competitor performance and budgets to the business throughout the year. (10%)
    • Prepares board of directors and quarterly business review dashboards, Monthly ROIC analysis and Divisional ROIC Analysis Reporting.
    • Identify trends in performance and provide guidance and financial support to help the business develop strategies to improve financial performance.
    • Prepare quarterly competitor benchmarking – highlighting major competitor initiatives and summarizing M&A and capital market activity in our industry.
    • Communicate with other user groups to create reports to allow more efficient use of their time.
    • Review and ensure the accuracy of the weekly and monthly forecast adjustments.
    • Research budget inquiries and variances as needed in support of all business units and provide solutions in consideration of all financial impacts to the business.
  • Data Gathering & Analytics (30%)
    • Conducts data analytics projects using business intelligence tools available to provide information and insights to stakeholders for decision making or solution development.
    • Collaborates with data housing departments to deploy automation tools to extract, validate, and summarize data from different sources to transform data into usable metrics.
    • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their financial data reporting needs, objectives, and requirements.
    • Develop, enhance, and support BI models and applications (e.g., reports, dashboards, data visualizations) in support of customer needs in assigned business areas.
    • Prepare views, active forms, and other useful web reports using Planning Analytics and Power BI.

Position Specification:

Required education: B. S. degree in accounting, finance or economics

Desired education: CPA, CFA, or MBA 

Required experience: At least four to seven years of Finance/Accounting experience with experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and business analysis

Desired experience: Report building using Planning Analytics and Power BI, programming languages such as M language, DAX, SQL, TM1, ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience

Required skills: Good balance of analytical and interpersonal skills. Great communication skills with the ability to build relationships and act as a business partner across the organization. Leadership and project management skills. Ability to identify and solve problems with minimal guidance. Strong understanding of financial accounting, advanced Excel knowledge, strong financial modeling skills and proficient in planning & budgeting software

Desired skills: IBM Planning and Analytics, Power BI, Business valuation, strategic/competitive analysis

Additional Criteria:

Must have the ability to maintain pleasant working relations with all levels of personnel. Must be detail oriented, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability to drive results and meet deadlines in the budgeting/forecasting process.

Starting Salary: $96,700-$120,900
