Primary Purpose of Job: The Payment Systems Compliance Analyst is responsible for creating and implementing fraud and risk programs for all electronic payment methods for QT. Ensure compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) rules and regulations and regularly works with Security on changes and updates to PCI rules and regulations. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for fraud and chargebacks to ensure minimal financial losses for QT.

 

Major functions:

 

Fraud Loss Prevention. 35%

    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the identification and resolution of fraudulent activity for Payment Programs. 
    • Develop and maintain reports to aid in the detection of new and old fraud schemes. 
    • Create reports that identify anomalies in normal sales trends. 
    • Improve methods to reduce fraudulent activity from both customer and store employees on existing payment systems.   
    • Work with division management in identifying specific store policy violations. 
    • Identify and analyze asset protection risks in order to develop, recommend and implement counter measures designed to eliminate or minimize losses.

                       

Audit and Reconciliation. 30%

    • Reconcile daily settlements for all card brands to ensure deductions for chargebacks are loaded into QT proprietary database.
    • Review chargeback losses in QT proprietary database program ensuring integrity and accuracy.
    • Serve as subject matter expert to help identify points of escalation when banks refuse to return funds to QT. 
    • Reconcile monthly chargeback dollars with Treasury to allocate losses to the stores and /or divisions. 

 

Store Payment Acceptance. 15%

    • Ensure accurate setup of all store’s payment methods prior to store opening.
      1. Work with various issuers and complete all required documentation.
      2. Track completion of all set-up steps to ensure on-time implementation.
      3. Assist store opening teams with payment acceptance testing and troubleshooting.
    • Serve as escalation point for all store’s issues related to setups, missing files and other business-related issues that may arise.
    • Ensure all QT records are updated to reflect new store IDs and validate for accuracy (e.g. SmartPay)
    • Facilitate the issuance of all relevant pay types for proper testing by store openers.

 

Special Projects. 5%

    • Assist Payment Systems Supervisor with the special projects or program requests and issues.
    • Enter trouble calls in reference to payment systems.
    • Coordinate with IT developers and follow through until completion. 

 

Test Cards. 5%

    • Establish, distribute and monitor test cards used for certification of new payment system programs and new store openings.
    • Ensure new stores are able to accept payment methods prior to opening.

 

Travel Center Store/Relocation Setups Backup. 5%

    • Backup and assist the Payment Systems Data Analyst on the following:
      1. Set up new/relocated store locations in proprietary systems.
      2. Coordinate setup and ensure 3rd party networks and processors have setups/relocation of store established prior to opening/relocation of new stores to ensure acceptance of all card types and payment of sales for credit and debit cards. 
      3. Run test transactions prior to store openings to ensure proper setups in internal systems.
      4. Troubleshoot cause and effect of test transactions not processing prior to store opening.

 

Collaboration & Relationships. 5%

    • Collaborate with card issuers, associations, and forums on the prevention of fraud. Some travel may be required (estimated 2-3 days).
    • Work with IT Security Manager on PCI rules and regulations in corporate and sales environments.
    • Liaison with all division staff, treasury, accounting, and IT personnel related to abnormal behaviors of payments inside of store, short payments received, over payments received, as well as, customer complaints for fraud. 

 

Position in Organization

Reports to: Payment Systems Supervisor           

 

Relationships      

Inside the Company: IT Personnel, Corporate Customer Service Group, Store Accounting, Treasury, and Operations personnel. 

Outside the Company: QT customers, vendors, bank personnel and credit card companies.

 

Position Specifications

Required education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, IT/MIS, or Business; OR comparable QT experience and must have successfully completed Financial and Managerial Accounting OR Principles of Accounting I and Principles of Accounting II. 

Desired education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, IT or Business related field.   

Required experience: Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Accounting, Finance or in a Business Analyst role; or a minimum of four years of relevant QT experience with a demonstrated proficiency in relevant data, systems, and operational tools. 

Desired experience: Five or more years’ work experience in Accounting, Finance or in a Business Analyst role with knowledge of Accounting/Financial systems and processes.  Familiarity with bank card operations, credit card fraud, risk and PCI experience. 

Required skills: Strong analytical ability with attention to detail.   Advanced skills in spreadsheet design and analysis. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build personal relationships with people from within and outside the company.   Excellent verbal skills/written communication skills strong organizational skills and multi-task required. Knowledge/experience with standard MS Office applications (outside of Excel in which advanced skills are required).      

Desired skills:  Database software reporting (Cognos and PowerBI).         

 

Additional criteria: Must have the ability to maintain pleasant working relations with all levels of personnel.  Must be detail oriented.  Moderate to heavy lifting may be required.

 

Starting Salary: $64,200-$80,200
