QuikTrip Distribution is now accepting applications for a General Industrial Technician to work in the Tulsa QTD Facility. 

 

SCHEDULE: The hours for this position may include evenings, overnights, holidays, and weekends but may vary according to projects and deadlines. Employee must be able to work all FS shifts and schedule is subject to change to meet the facility needs.

 

PAY: The starting salary for this position is $25.96 per hour, plus bonuses.

A. Primary Purpose of Job:

Maintain all equipment and facilities in good working order.  Maintain a professional working relationship with the facility team members. Work efficiently using good work order management and time management skills to prioritize repairs, Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment according to established guidelines and safety procedures.

 

B. List the major functions for this position starting with the most important and ending with the least important (maximum of 10 functions).

  1. Maintain all equipment and facilities in good working order.
  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose issues, and make repairs to equipment in the warehouse according to technician classification.  Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
  2. Work efficiently using mobile device and time management skills to quickly prioritize repairs. Ensure all work orders are resolved within the predetermined time frame.
  1. Utilize the Call Management System and assigned mobile device to prioritize and document work orders.
  2. Follow established guidelines by starting and finishing work shift based on work order volume and priority.
  3. Follow established guidelines to plan and execute the highest impact on priority and overdue work orders.
  1. Provide good customer service by communicating with Team Leaders.

 

  1. Work efficiently to address all work orders in each location.
  1. Meet established company standards on technician work efficiency ratings based on Technician Trade as outlined in Facility Support guidelines.
  2. Ensure all work orders are updated regularly with appropriate, informative details.
  3. Ensure all parts and labor used to repair equipment is properly entered for each work order.
  4. Complete all scheduled and assigned Planned Maintenance and Special Project work orders within predetermined time frames.
  1. Ensure all applicable administrative tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  1. Use mobile device according to established procedures to record all direct and indirect labor cost.
  2. Perform all inventory control procedures for transferring, issuing, requesting, and returning parts and/or materials to or from parts locations.
  3. Maintain assigned tools according to established applicable company procedures.

 

  1. Attend and participate in meetings, training classes, and requested training to maintain and improve technical proficiency.
  1. Utilize the mobile device to request training on equipment that is needed.
  2. Attend and participate in all skill schools, new equipment, and other training as assigned or requested.
  3. Maintain all required manufacturer and QuikTrip certifications as requested.
  4. Respond to request from resource groups for resolutions to problem equipment.
  5. Share best practices concerning equipment repairs.
  6. Work with other technicians to improve technical proficiency of the department.

  1. Skills Needed to Perform Work Duties
  1. Learn and comprehend troubleshooting of electrical circuits and components.
  1. Understanding the fundamentals of electrical and work with it safely.
  2. Read electrical drawing such as schematics, line drawing, and ladder diagrams.
  3. Add new circuits, run conduit, pull wire, troubleshoot control devices and circuits.
  4. Troubleshoot components and motors correctly and safely.
  1.  Maintain interior facility systems including but not limited to lighting, light material handling equipment, conveyors and bakery and commissary equipment, and dock equipment.
  2. Maintain and repair various exterior facility systems including but not limited to landscape, irrigation, fuel systems, fence and gate systems, lighting and security.
  3. Facility Maintenance, Carpentry and Metal fabrication- Door repair, painting, welding, pallet rack repair etc.
  4. Basic plumbing- unclog toilets, replace faucet washer, run lines, sweat solder etc.

E. Position Specifications

 

The required specifications (education, experience, and skills) are those that the employee must have to hold the position.   1. Required education                 High school graduate or equivalent. Must successfully

complete in house training skill school within scheduled time frame, and pass test for Industrial Electrical Principles, HVAC Electrical, Fundamentals of Industrial Maintenance, Plumbing, Emerson, Lighting, Advanced Welding, and Motor Controls I, Pneumatic and Hydraulics (fluid power), and factory training class on forklifts.

 

  1. Desired education:                 Vo-tech course in Industrial Maintenance and equipment

Repair.

           

  1. Required experience:              Basic knowledge of material handling equipment.

 

  1. Desired experience:                Two years industrial maintenance and one year work

experience in repair of material handling equipment.

     Sensory Requirements:

  1. Hearing/continuous: Worker is required to listen carefully to instructions from their supervisor; they need to be alert to equipment sounds and possible problems.  Diagnostic skills are derived from the workers ability to discern abnormal sounds in the normal operation of equipment.
  2. Seeing/continuous: Worker must be able to visualize what they are working on in order to either fix the problem or to perform preventive maintenance. The safe operation of machinery and tools is not possible without being capable of seeing.

     Physical Requirements:

  1. Speaking/continuous: Worker is required to clearly and pleasantly communicate verbally with team members, vendors/suppliers.
  2. Bending/continuous: Many job activities require bending or stooping such as picking up product, parts, and cleaning.  Proper lifting techniques require squatting.     
  3. Breathing (non-assisted)/continuous: All job activities require the ability to move quickly in, around, and out of the facility.  Positions would not allow movement with a breathing device, unless it could be mobile throughout the warehouse and poses no safety danger. Occasionally required to work in tight, confined areas.
  4. Holding/continuous: Holding small and large tools and parts for equipment repair (i.e.-pencils, hand tools, cleaning supplies) for tasks are a continual need. The worker must be able to grasp and hold items as necessary to complete required job functions. 
  5. Inserting/continuous: Worker is assembling parts and disassembling parts constantly. Worker must have the necessary manual dexterity to perform preventive maintenance and repairs.
  6. Lifting/occasional: 60-100lb/Frequent 60lbs or less: Worker is required to lift up to 100 pounds when making repairs or in preventive maintenance. Some items are large and require team lifting.
  7. Standing/continuous:  Worker is required to stand entire working shift (up to 10+ hours).  All facility operations are structured to be done in a standing position.  
  8. Walking/frequent: Worker is required to move around the facility to complete repairs and respond to work orders. Rapid pace is common for these needs to be met successfully. Walking to different areas in the warehouse is required daily.
  9. Exposure/frequent: Worker is required to work outside or in facility areas that may be exposed to extreme heat or cold. Worker will be required to work in cooler or freezer where they would be exposed to extreme cold. Worker is required to work around gases, chemicals, electricity.
  10. Push and pull/frequent: Worker is required to move large equipment and items on a dolly or cart when making repairs and completing work orders.
  11. Climbing/occasional: Worker is required to climb ladders and move between levels when making repairs and completing work orders.
  12. Stepping/occasional: Worker is required to step onto material handling equipment.

       Mental Requirements:

  1. Concentrating/continuous: The quality of work has a direct impact on the safety of the material handling operators. Worker must perform work correctly or the results could lead to an accident or down time on delivery. Rapid pace of work requires strong ability to maintain concentration on several tasks at a time to avoid losing track of active processes.
  2. Conceptualizing/frequent: Worker is required to listen to or read instructions and put into practice when repairing equipment. Worker is responsible to maintain accurate records for all preventive maintenance performed on equipment.
  3. Learning/frequent: Worker is required to quickly comprehend existing and new programs/techniques to improve the performance and durability of facility equipment. Training is a continuous process that starts on the first day of employment and never ends.
  4. Reasoning/continuous: Worker is required to understand requests and comments from material handling and equipment operators when making repairs and completing work orders. Worker is required to gather information and determine what steps are necessary to resolve problems requiring repairs.
  5. Solving/continuous: Worker must be able to recognize, communicate, troubleshoot, and find solutions when faced with maintenance problems. The ability to correctly diagnose and solve problems is critical for the position.
  6. Thinking/continuous: Machinery can be dangerous to the safety of employees and breakdowns can be costly.  Worker must be thinking at all times to minimize the potential for injuries or breakdowns.  Worker is required to take verbal and written direction and to surmise how these specifically apply to their work environment; feedback from the worker to co-workers and superiors is essential to properly process compliance directives from management; forming judgments concerning these procedures is necessary to give this feedback.

The employee has a direct impact on profitability by ensuring equipment is working properly. Ensuring productivity by minimizing facility down time and maintaining equipment properly has a direct impact on expenses.
