Primary Purpose of Job:

Provide civil design, drafting, and estimating support for the Civil Project Managers in concert with local municipal requirements while maintaining QuikTrip standards for access, parking, visibility, signage, drainage, and cost control. Coordinate and ensure changes are implemented to all civil prototypes. Support internal and external design and permitting processes for new site development and major projects by preparing exhibits, checklists, templates and construction drawings. Manage small projects with oversite from Supervisor or Sr. Civil Project Manager. 

 

Major functions for this position: 

 

Prepare Initial Site Plans requested by Real Estate staff for use in determining and negotiating land acquisitions for new stores and additions to existing stores.

  • Coordinate requests and ensuing layout option(s) with Real Estate and Civil Project Managers (CPM).
  • Adapt QuikTrip standard site templates to proposed site locations, considering physical site restrictions.
  • Create Initial Site Plans including conceptual boundary/right-of-way limits, topographical information, building, fuel canopy, parking, and significant existing site design impact items (channels, major overhead or underground utilities, site signage, etc.).
  •  35% of total job

 

  • Create and Maintain QuikTrip CAD documents as determined by QuikTrip and industry standards.
  • Create and maintain drafting and design documents utilizing computer aided design software (AutoCAD) in compliance with QuikTrip and industry standards for tolerance, clarity, and aesthetics (best practices).
  • Manage Quality Control (QC) throughout drafting and design projects through design lead, and peer reviews.
  • Follow naming convention guidelines within QuikTrip’s templates, prototypes, and baseline documents.

Prepare cost estimates for new stores and small projects requested by project managers.

  • Calculate above grade (paving, curbs, lighting, landscaping, etc) quantities from civil design plans.
  • Calculate earthwork quantities from civil design plans.
  • Calculate below grade quantities (storm water conveyance and structures, detention systems, electrical, sanitary, etc.) from civil design plans.
  • Populate Cost Estimate forms with all provided project related land acquisition, environmental mitigation, professional service, and construction costs related to site expansions to existing stores, ensuring estimates account for standard and non-standard cost items.
  • 15% of total job

 

Review, prioritize, and record daily workload.

  • Review Task Schedule and miscellaneous requests to determine assignments and their associated priorities.
  • Prioritize assignments (daily) understanding current and pending task assignments based on work (hours) and duration (deadline) for each item.
  • Communicate intermittent status updates with key customers and supervisor regarding specific assignment needs, and overall scheduling coordination.

Prepare and provide miscellaneous development plans / exhibits for use in negotiating real estate contracts, confirming field information, and supplementing review meetings with municipal staff, engineers, surveyors, and contractors.

Develop and manage the completion of electronic records for open stores through outside consultants, including: “Thumbnail” site plan for use by Sales, Operations, Marketing, Facility Support, Legal, Human Resources, Accounting, and Store Development staff.

Present changes to the Sr. Civil Project Manager for incorporation into the quarterly prototype updates.

Position Specifications

Required education: Associate degree in civil drafting or equivalent experience.

 

Desired education: Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Degree

 

Required Experience: Minimum of one year experience in the civil drafting field and competency in current release of AutoCAD.

 

Desired experience: Two years’ experience with site plan development, surveying, drafting, quantity take-offs, and construction of retail commercial projects. Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D software, and AutoDesk Vault Collaboration software.

 

Required Skills: Competent knowledge of AutoCAD systems and related enhancement software. Self-motivating, detail oriented, effective communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and PDF Reviewers such as Adobe or Bluebeam. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

Starting Salary Range: $27.57 - $30.00
