Schedule Options: The hours for this position may include evenings, overnights, holidays, and weekends but may vary according to projects and deadlines. The starting salary for this position while in training is $25.96 per hour plus bonuses. After a CDL training is complete, the driver will have the opportunity to be paid based on activity (weights/stops/miles) starting pay up to $80K annually.

 

 Primary Purpose of Job: 

To transport QuikTrip merchandise over assigned routes safely and in accordance with all QuikTrip policies and procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Deliver merchandise to designated drop-off point in accordance with QT policies and procedures.

 

Major functions for this position:

  1. Operate tractor / trailer – adhere to all laws pertaining to safe driving.
  2. Complete pre- and post- trip vehicle inspections.
  3. Stay abreast of and adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations and logbook
  4. Operate the following equipment:
    1. Cargo ramp
    2. Two-wheel dolly
    3. Thermo King refrigeration unit
    4. Load bars
    5. Electronic on-board computers
    6. Forklift
    7. Electric Pallet Jack
    8. Hoses & fittings (Fuel)
  5. Complete all paperwork
    1. Driver check-off sheets
    2. Store returns
    3. Load quality report
    4. Vehicle inspection form - DVIR (pre- and post- trip inspections)
    5. Scanning BOL’s to appropriate personnel
  6. Maintain a working knowledge of invoicing procedures, interstate toll and weight procedures and general maintenance of diesel trucks.
  7. Merchandise delivered in a timely manner by adhering to designated start times. Be courteous to store customers, store personnel and the general public.
  8. Responsibilities as a Driver:
    1. Prior to leaving QTD ensure the following is in the trailer/tractor:
  1. Load properly secured in trailer with bulkheads and load bars.
  1. Invoices for stores
  2. Ramp
  1. Hand Truck.
  1. Safety Cones
  2. Directions and road conditions of trip
  3. Current valid insurance card
  4. IFTA paperwork – current year
  5. Cab card/registration – current year
  6. Annual Vehicle Inspection paperwork
  7. Fuel spill kit (Fuel Only)
  8. Adequate number of hoses and drop elbows (Fuel Only)
  9. ERG book (Fuel Only)
  1. Hazardous Material Certificate of registration (Fuel Only)
  1. State specific fuel carrier license certificate (Fuel Only)
  1. Store Tank plan book (Fuel Only)
    1. Follow special store requests in regard to parking and delivering merchandise, not in violation of company policy (QTD 5-03-013).
    2. Prior to leaving on route, check the computer for email, etc.
    3. Verify accuracy of product being delivered.
    4. Picking up empty totes and lids at the stores.
    5. Emptying the trailer of totes and lids at the warehouse.
    6. Picking up donations, store credits and returns.
    7. Complete ongoing Safety Training
    8. Fueling tractor and reefers.
    9. Waiting on invoices.
  1. Receiving pallet deliveries, scan receiving BOL’s to purchasing, rotate inventory, load pallet delivery routes, and assist in maintaining the appearance of the facility through established cleaning procedures. Assist in other areas, departments, or business units within QuikTrip as needed.
  2. Demonstrate, train, and observe Driver’s Assistant job functions when assigned.
    1. Safely assist driver in backing in trailer using QT approved hand signals.
    2. Being courteous to customers, store personnel, vendors, and the public.
    3. How to properly utilize cargo ramp, two-wheel dolly, TK refrigeration unit, load bars, forklift and electric pallet jack.
    4. Assist driver by accurately unloading trailer, securing the load, loading/unloading, and organizing empty totes, picking up donations in a timely manner.
    5. Stack and merchandise product in compliance with QTD standards to minimize damage to product while loading and unloading.
    6. Pick up any approved store returns and load in trailer.
    7. Assist driver in verifying accuracy of product being delivered.
    8. Assist driver in unloading of totes/donations in the designated areas.

Position Specifications 

Requirements for this position: 

 

  1. Education:                   

High school graduate or equivalent, Vo-tech training

  1. Experience:

Basic knowledge of tractor / trailers. Must be at least 21 and have a clean driving record including no DWI/DUI’s for the past 5 years. Fuel Delivery Drivers must have a minimum of 1-year QTD driving experience and be at least 25 years of age.

  1. Skills:

Ability to drive a tractor / trailer and back trailer into dock and store parking lot. Must be able to maintain a CDL Class A driver’s license, including but not limited to alcohol/drug test, written exam, driving test, and DMV record check.

 

All CDL training is conducted by an internal QuikTrip Driver Initial Trainer. All costs associated with obtaining your CDL License are covered by QuikTrip.

 

Desired specifications for this position:

Graduate of driving institute

One-year experience driving a tractor / trailer

Dependable, self-motivated.

 

Additional criteria which should be recognized in evaluating the scope and impact of this position:

Must be able to scale, weigh, read the ticket, and make tandem or 5th wheel adjustments without assistance. Driver must be able to read a map (in case of road construction and detours). Must know procedures for getting a tire changed in an isolated area. Must display professionalism in both appearance and actions.

Additionally, the following are required:

  1. Must have good driving record.
  2. Must attend and complete designated training school.
  3. Must pass physical and DOT regulations.
  4. Able to work evenings and late-night shifts.
  5. Able to work with little supervision.
  6. Must pass TSA background check (Fuel Only)
  7. Must obtain hazardous material and tanker endorsements (Fuel Only)
