SCHEDULE: The hours for this position may include evenings, overnights, holidays, and weekends but may vary according to projects and deadlines.

 

PAY: The starting salary for this position while in training is $25.96 per hour plus bonuses. After a CDL is obtained, the driver will have the opportunity to be paid based on activity (weights/stops/miles) starting pay up to $80k annually.

The Primary purpose of this job is to transport QuikTrip merchandise over assigned routes safely and in accordance with all QuikTrip policies and procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Deliver merchandise to designated drop-off point in accordance with QT policies and procedures.

 

CRITERIA: The requirements for this position include: Basic knowledge of tractor/trailers. Must be at least 21 and have a clean driving record, including no DWI/DUI’s for the past 5 years. Must have the ability to learn how to drive a tractor/trailer and back trailer into dock and store parking lot. Driver will be required to lift up to 60 pounds in a product delivery tote or transport up to 300 pounds with the use of a two-wheeler (product often stacked overhead level) to correct area in the store for check-in. Empty totes are loaded on trailer and then unloaded at the warehouse. Must be able to maintain a CDL Class A driver’s license, including but not limited to alcohol/drug test, written exam, driving test, and DMV record check. All CDL training is conducted by an internal QuikTrip Driver Initial Trainer. All costs associated with obtaining your CDL License are covered by QuikTrip.

  1. Primary Purpose of Job:  

 

To transport QuikTrip merchandise over assigned routes safely and in accordance with all QuikTrip policies and procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.  Deliver merchandise to designated drop-off point in accordance with QT policies and procedures.

  1. Operate tractor / trailer – adhere to all laws pertaining to safe driving. 

                           

  1. Complete pre and post-trip vehicle inspections. 

 

  1. Stay abreast of and adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations and logbook. 

 

  1. Operate the following equipment: 
    1. Cargo ramp 
    2. Two-wheel dolly 
    3. Thermo King refrigeration unit 
    4. Load bars 
    5. Electronic on-board computers
    6. Forklift
    7. Electric Pallet Jack
    8. Hoses & fittings (Fuel)

                                       

  1. Complete all paperwork:

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of invoicing procedures, interstate toll and weight procedures, and general maintenance of diesel trucks. 

 

  1. Merchandise delivered product in a timely manner by adhering to designated start times. Be courteous to store customers, store personnel, and the general public. 

 

  1. Responsibilities as a Driver: 
    1. Prior to leaving QTD ensure the following is in the trailer/tractor: 
      1. Load properly secured in trailer with bulkheads and load bars.
      2. Invoices for stores 
      3. Ramp 
      4. Hand Truck.
      5. Safety Cones
      6. ELD
      7. Directions and road conditions of trip
      8. Current valid insurance card
      9. IFTA paperwork – current year
      10. Cab card/registration – current year
      11. Annual Vehicle Inspection paperwork
      12. Fuel spill kit (Fuel Only)
      13. Adequate number of hoses and drop elbows (Fuel Only)
      14. ERG book (Fuel Only)
      15. Hazardous Material Certificate of registration (Fuel Only)
      16. State specific fuel carrier license certificate (Fuel Only)
      17. Store Tank plan book (Fuel Only) 
    1. Follow special store requests in regard to parking and delivering merchandise, not in violation of company policy (QTD 5-03-013).
    2. Prior to leaving on route, check the computer for email, etc.
    3. Verify accuracy of product being delivered.
    4. Picking up empty totes and lids at the stores. 
    5. Emptying the trailer of totes and lids at the warehouse.
    6. Picking up donations, store credits and returns.
    7. Complete ongoing Safety Training  
    8. Fueling tractor and reefers.
    9. Waiting on invoices.

 

  1. Receiving pallet deliveries, scan receiving BOL’s to purchasing, rotate inventory, load pallet delivery routes, and assist in maintaining the appearance of the facility through established cleaning procedures. Assist and help in the completion of work in other areas (Ambient and Temperate Controlled) in the Facility as designated by management.  

 

  1. Demonstrate, train, and observe Driver’s Assistant job functions when assigned.
    1. Safely assist driver in backing in trailer using QT approved hand signals.
    2. Being courteous to customers, store personnel, vendors, and the public.
    3. How to properly utilize cargo ramp, two-wheel dolly, TK refrigeration unit, load bars, forklift, and electric pallet jack.
    4. Assist driver by accurately unloading trailer, securing the load, loading/unloading, and organizing empty totes, picking up donations in a timely manner.
    5. Stack and merchandise product in compliance with QTD standards to minimize damage to product while loading and unloading.
    6. Pick up any approved store returns and load in trailer.
    7. Assist driver in verifying accuracy of product being delivered.
    8. Assist driver in unloading of totes/donations in the designated areas.

  Sensory Requirements:            

    1. Hearing/continuous:  Worker must be aware of traffic noises around them in order to safely operate tractor / trailer.  Worker is required to listen carefully to instructions from their supervisor, customers, and store personnel. Be alert to customer needs, equipment sounds, and possible problems.   
    2. Seeing/continuous: Worker must be able to see the roads and observe all road signs. Worker is required to verify correct store orders for delivery by reading tote labels and invoices; product cannot be delivered without being capable of seeing.

                 

   Physical Requirements:   

    1. Speaking/continuous:  Worker is required to clearly and pleasantly communicate verbally with team members, vendors/suppliers, and store personnel.
    2. Bending/continuous:  Worker stacks cases of merchandise from the trailer onto the two-wheeler.  Merchandise delivered to the store may be restacked inside store.  Many job activities require bending or stooping such as picking up products, stocking, cleaning, lifting boxes and totes.  Proper lifting techniques require squatting.      
    3. Breathing (non-assisted)/continuous:  All job activities require the ability to move quickly in, around and out of the tractor/trailer, facility, and stores.  Positions would not allow movement with a breathing device, unless it could be mobile throughout the warehouse and poses no safety danger.
    4. Holding/continuous:  Worker must be capable of maintaining points of contact with the steering wheel when operating a tractor/trailer. Holding product, two-wheeler, totes, and utensils (i.e.-pencils, box knives, cleaning supplies) for tasks are a continual need.  The worker must be able to grasp and hold items as necessary to complete required job functions. 
    5. Inserting/continuous:  Worker must be able to back trailer into a confined area.  Must be able to manipulate a two-wheeler when loaded without injuring patrons.  Worker places products onto trays, screens, or in totes. Worker stages or stocks product on multi-shelf racks so that product is not damaged.        
    6. Lifting/ frequent: 30-60lbs/continuous: 30lbs or less. Worker is required to lift up to 60 pounds in a product delivery tote. Bulk ingredients and inventory boxes will be moved and stocked frequently to meet store orders. Lifting individual packages will also be required to restock proper areas to fill store orders. Frequent: Worker will be required to transport up to 300 pounds with the use of a two-wheeler (product often stacked overhead level) to correct area in the store for check-in. 
    7. Sitting/continuous:  Worker is required to sit while driving the truck.  Many routes are over the road requiring the worker to sit the duration of the shift. 
    8. Standing/continuous:  Worker is required to stand when not driving a truck (up to 10+ hours).  All facility operations, except driving, are structured to be done in a standing position.   
    9. Walking/frequent:  Worker must walk up and down a ramp with heavy loads when making store deliveries. Worker is required to move around the facility/store to complete tasks and fill store orders. Rapid pace is common for these needs to be met successfully. Walking to different areas in the warehouse is required daily.
    10. Exposure/occasional: Worker is required to work outside or in facility areas that may be exposed to extreme heat or cold. Continuous: Worker required to work in cooler or freezer where they would be exposed to extreme cold.
    11. Push and pull/frequent: Worker is required to move items on a dolly, z-rack, carts, in totes, and when stocking inventory or filling store orders.
    12. Climbing/occasional: Worker is required to climb when moving between levels while filling store orders, stocking inventory, and while cleaning.
    13. Stepping/occasional: Worker is required to step onto material handling equipment.

                                       

 Mental Requirements:    

    1. Concentrating/continuous:  Worker is responsible to always demonstrate safe-driving habits. Worker is required to keep track of thousands of dollars of inventory and respond quickly and accurately while completing assignments. Rapid pace of work requires strong ability to maintain concentration on several tasks at a time to avoid losing track of active processes.
    2. Conceptualizing/frequent:  Worker is required to listen or read instructions and put into practice in operation of tractor/trailer, the facility, and delivery to stores.  Meeting all DOT requirements while operating a truck is required. Worker must be able to visualize the relationship they have in completing the delivery of product to QuikTrip standards.     
    3. Learning/frequent:  Worker is required to quickly comprehend existing and new programs to improve productivity and performance of facility operations. Training is a continuous process that starts on the first day of employment and never ends.
    4. Reasoning/continuous:  Worker must be able to recognize and determine if product meets company standards for the delivery of store orders. Worker is required to understand requests and comments from customers, store employees, and co-workers and then decide on the proper action to take.  Understanding the appropriate steps to proceed in dealing with store relations and distribution operations are critical and must be accurately discerned as they are brought to the worker’s attention.   
    5. Solving/frequent:  Worker must be able to recognize, communicate, and find solutions when faced with operational problems. The ability to correctly solve problems is more critical as the worker moves up to higher-level management positions. Worker is required to properly satisfy store requests and problems. The ability to correctly solve problems is critical, as the worker must make numerous decisions with little immediate guidance.
    6.
